Youth Organizations
Scouts, Clubs, and Park and Recreation Centers
Call to find out how you can customize an adventure that invites boys and girls to march with the militia, follow the Fifes and Drums, take part in a criminal trial, and talk with carpenters, brickmakers, blacksmiths, milliners, cooks—and others who built a nation. Throughout the day, your pass allows you to explore homes, trade shops, and government buildings. Your group will learn about the mothers and daughters, fathers and sons, sisters and brothers, and husbands and wives who, through their daily lives, altered the course of social standards and history. Let Colonial Williamsburg’s customized experiences immerse you in the 18th century.
Special Events for Homeschoolers
During the year, Colonial Williamsburg designates several weeks as Homeschooler Experiences. In addition to the variety of activities and programming throughout the Historic Area, special programs are scheduled for homeschool participants including a variety of hands-on opportunities. Special rates are available during this period for homeschoolers. Groups or individuals are welcome. Sample itineraries are available.
In the fall, the experience focuses on government, politics, and the Revolution. Families are encouraged to participate in the Revolutionary City® programs as well as the other diverse offerings in the Historic Area. In addition, homeschoolers have the opportunity to participate in exclusive meetings with a Person of the Past.
Spring experiences emphasize domestic life and include opportunities to explore family life, education, and the apprenticeship system. Visits to trade shops encourage students to delve into sciences and math as well as history. A variety of interactive experiences exclusively for homeschoolers is featured daily at the Powell House.
